Learning Beyond Classroom Day

In this year’s learning beyond classroom in term 1, all five levels of Hillgrovians got the chance to learn and hone crucial soft skills such as creative thinking and teamwork. The various lessons and activities that each level attended, provided students with the opportunity to gain new experiences and build camaraderie with their classmates.

For example, Secondary 2 Math students got to witness their math concepts in real life as they participated in a Math Trail at Jem a suburban mall in Jurong East, Singapore. Through the math trail, students discovered the math around us as they were tasked to solve problems about the various landmarks they see, calculate areas and volumes, recognize exchange rates and make use of estimations to evaluate large quantities. Whereas the Secondary 3 Geography students, had the opportunity to see how individuals can contribute to sustainable fashion as they upcycling their old t-shirts into their tote bag.

These are just 2 examples of the activities and lessons that students took part in. Learning beyond classroom is key in enhancing Hillgovians' holistic education, particularly in the cognitive domain and in injecting more joy of learning into our curriculum.
