Hillgrove Learning Festival 2023

Hillgrove held its inaugural Learning Festival on 28 March 2023. The first of its kind, students reported to each other in various classrooms instead of their teachers to learn from over 60 different groups of sharers across 8 categories of activities. Sharing topics ranged from cooking and computer assembly to tie-dying, origami and make-up tutorials.

Each sharing was student-initiated, with some mentoring from an assigned teacher from the Joyful Learning Committee. Students hence had a day of passion-driven teaching and learning. Wearing the hat of an educator for a few hours also helped the students envision what the lives of their teachers are like on a daily basis. Some teachers stepped up to the plate too, offering specially curated courses such as sound-editing and flower bouquet making. These enlightened students on the hobbies and skills teachers possess outside of their subject disciplines.

Overall, it was a day filled with self-directed, real world learning and rich experiences.
