Our Debate Club aims to offer our gentlemen the opportunity to:

• develop strong oratorical skills

• gain a good grasp of world issues

• have a zeal for knowledge

• acquire the skills for critical thinking and

• achieve language excellence.

We provide a wide range of opportunities to engage our members in discussions that will challenge their thinking and broaden their perspectives on global issues.

Throughout the year, we take part in several debate competitions, including:

• Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships (Division I)

• Eunoia Debating Championship

• Debates Association Debating Championship

• Raffles Institution U-14 Debating Championship 

• Oldham Cup

• Thoburn Cup

• and other school invitationals.

Through such platforms, our debaters get to hone their skills as they pit themselves against the best in the nation. We are one of the top 20 secondary debate institutions in Singapore.

In the course of our history, we have produced scholars and debaters. Many of our debating alumni have gone on to represent their post-secondary institutions and have done the nation proud at prestigious international debate tournaments.

In 2008, former school debater Lim Yin Li received the Top 5 Speaker Awards at the MOE Invitational Debating Championships (the National JC Tournament). In 2011, former school debater David Aw clinched one of the Top 3 Speaker Awards, representing Anglo-Chinese Junior College at the Bratislava Schools Debating Competition.
