Music Special Programme & Enhanced Music Programme
音乐特别课程与
强化音乐课程

Our Music special programme (MuSP) provides an extension of the Lower Secondary Music Programme which seeks to develop students’ passion in music. Students from different classes at Lower Secondary will be immersed in a weekly enriched musical environment which comprises music-making activities, masterclasses and performance opportunities. The programme aims to develop and nurture the joy of learning and strengthen a stronger foundation in music studies. Most MuSP students will continue their study of the subject at ‘O’ Levels upon passing the MOE Selection test (Listening test & Performance of two contrasting pieces on any instrument of their choice) at Secondary Two. They will then join the Enhanced Music Programme in their Secondary Three year.

The Enhanced Music Programme (EMP) is a two-year programme supported by MOE for students who have the interest, ability and disposition for in-depth music study. Students will develop in areas of music perception, composition writing and performance. They will be exposed to music of various genres - Western Classical traditions, Jazz, Popular Music, Asian Music, Musical, Films & Multimedia. Students will also be engaged in workshops that provide hands-on experiences (eg. Indian music workshop, Malay Dance music workshop) to gain deeper insights into the cultural context. In addition, there are also opportunities for collaborative learning where our students participate in the annual Combined Schools’ MOE music camp where students from EMP and MEP (Music Elective Programme) learn from music industry professionals. Our students also take part in the Music Higher Education Career Fair organised by MOE where it highlights to students of higher education options and career pathways in music to help them gain a deeper appreciation for how music can impact the world.

All students will offer Music or Higher Music at the GCE O-Level. A student who offers Higher Music in the GCE O-Level Examination will be allowed to use the Higher Music grade in lieu of a Humanities subject grade for admission to the JC/MI. CCHM also serves as an O-Level Music Centre for students from other schools.
