Home
Home was composed in 1997 for Sing Singapore, a biennial song festival organised by the National Arts Council (NAC). The theme for the festival then was ‘River’, which explain why word ‘river’ appears many times in the song.
When Singaporean musician and Cultural Medallion recipient, Dick Lee wrote the song, what inspired him was the feeling of homesickness after being away from Singapore for several years.
In an online poll conducted by Straits Times in 2013, the song was voted the most popular National Day Parade (NDP) song.
