R-naught (RO) represents the infection rate of a disease.

If a disease has a R0 of 3.5, that means 1 infected person can infect 3.5 person.

R0 of 3.5 means an infected person can either infect 3 or 4 person each time.

Those infected 3 or 4 people will then infect another 3 - 4 people and it goes on and on. Eventually, after just 3 rounds of infecting people, one person that was infected by the disease has now spread it to at least 27 person.
