ESCAPE ROOM RULES AND GUIDELINES

Welcome to Escape Room, an exhilarating English language competition designed to explore the language skills and teamwork abilities of school children. As part of the exciting English Language Carnival, this competition aims to provide an immersive and interactive platform for students to enhance their English language proficiency while fostering collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

DEFINITION

An escape room competition is a challenging and immersive event where teams compete against each other to solve a series of puzzles and riddles within a confined space, typically referred to as an escape room. The objective of the competition is for teams to work together, using their problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and teamwork, to successfully complete the given tasks and escape the room within a specified time limit.

PURPOSE OF COMPETITION

The primary objective of Escape Room is to promote and strengthen English language skills among school children in a fun and engaging way. By combining the elements of an escape room with language-based puzzles and challenges, the competition aims to enhance participants' vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and communication skills. Furthermore, the event encourages teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication among team members, fostering a supportive and collaborative learning environment.

ELIGIBILITY

This competition is open to all primary school students (Private, Public & International) from Year 4 to Year 6 only.

MODE

In-person at the IPGKBA Campus.

COMPETITION RULES AND REGULATIONS

Team Composition: Each team should consist of 4 members and all members must be from the same school.

Time Limit: The teams will have a maximum of 45 minutes to complete the challenge.

Game Master: Each team will be assigned a Game Master who will monitor  the game, provide hints when necessary, and keep track of time.

Fair Play: Participants must solve the puzzles using their own knowledge and skills. No external help or resources are allowed.

Safety: Participants must follow all safety instructions and guidelines provided by the event organisers.

Hints:  If a team gets stuck or struggles to solve a puzzle, the Game Master can provide hints to keep the game moving forward.

Winners:  The team that successfully escapes the library within the time limit with the fastest time will be declared the winner.

The Escape Room Competition will be held at:

Time: 9.00 a.m.

Venue: IPGKBA Library

NOTE: The organiser shall not bear the cost of accommodation or transportation or any expenses for this purpose. Participants are responsible for all logistics and accommodation arrangements. All expenses are non-reimbursable.

DURATION OF COMPETITION

Each team will be given 45 minutes to escape from the library. The team that successfully escapes the library in the shortest time, within the time limit, will be declared the winner.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The team that successfully escapes the library in the shortest time, within the time limit, will be declared the winner.

This competition relies heavily on teamwork, collaboration, English Language and problem solving skills.

PRIZES

Medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners directly after the competition.

CERTIFICATE AND PRIZES RECEPTION PROCEDURES

All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation via the e-mail indicated in the entry form.

Winners will receive their medals at the end of the event and an e-certificate of achievement.
