ELT LEARNING DESIGN COMPETITION
English Language and Literature Carnival 2024

Prior to the availability of digital mediums and social media platforms, many English Language teachers use non-digital teaching-learning resources like puppets, globes, flash cards, wall displays, charts, models and pictures in their classrooms. These learning resources are used by teachers to help learners understand key concepts with ease. The main aim of this competition is to enable teacher trainees to develop interesting non-digital language activities that can be used in an ESL classroom. The activity designed must be applicable and accessible to learners with diverse abilities, learning styles and learning needs.
RULES & REGULATIONS
1. The competition is open to all IPGK students.
2. The contestants are to observe the following rules:
2.1 The recorded non-digital language activity must not be more than 15 minutes.
2.2 Create an original non-digital aid and utilise it when presenting your language activity. Showcase the non-digital teaching aid in your recorded presentation.
2.3 The language activity must be original and aligned with the primary school curriculum or syllabus.
2.4 The language activity should support the learning standard identified.
2.5 The language skill that will be the focus of your activity must be stated clearly. Specify whether it will target listening, speaking, writing, reading or a combination of these skills.
2.6 All contestants must register on the google registration form via the link provided
3. Adjudication
3.1 A panel of at least 2 judges will be appointed.
3.2 Points will be allocated according to the scoresheet.
3.3 The decision of the judges is final. No appeal is allowed.
3.4 Individual marks will not be disclosed.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submit your competition entry forms by 4.30 p.m., 10 July 2024.
CLOSING CEREMONY VENUE AND DATE
IPGKBA Campus on Friday, 26 July 2024
CERTIFICATES
All participants will receive an e-certificate of participation to be sent to the email address indicated in the competition entry form.
PRIZES
The winners will be announced via the website by Friday 19 July 2024.
E-certificates of achievement will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.
