DIGITAL STORYTELLING COMPETITION
RULES AND GUIDELINES
INTRODUCTION
Digital storytelling is a story or ideas presented using computer-based tools.
Digital stories for this competition involves the creation of a video through the combination of text, narration, visuals, audio and other multimedia resources to enhance the presentation of a story.
This competition intends to create awareness among ESL students on the creative potential of storytelling through multimedia.
AIMS
To give participants the opportunity to explore their creativity through digital storytelling.
To promote the usage of the English Language the development of oral communication skills among participants.
To promote the use of multimedia when presenting story ideas in the English language.
ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to all IPGK students.
COMPETITION RULES
This is an individual entry competition.
The duration of the storytelling is 3-4 minutes. No marks will be awarded for presentations that exceed 4 minutes.
Stories presented can be authentic, adapted or originally written.
Stories presented must not touch on sensitivity issues such as race, religion, stereotyping, politics, etc.
The multimedia resources used should be original, interesting, captivating and creative, and serves its purpose in giving impact to the storytelling.
The story should only use the English language as the medium of communication and any usage of other languages is not acceptable.
Stories must be thematically educational.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Upload the video to YouTube to generate a link. Submit the link via the entry form provided below.
JUDGING
The judging panel’s decision is final and no appeals will be considered.
Selection criteria will be based the following aspects:
Story development / Content 25%
Digital technology tools 25%
Language use 25%
Originality 25%
TOTAL 100%
CERTIFICATES
All participants will receive a certificate of participation to be sent to the email address indicated in the competitions entry form.
PRIZES
The winners will be announced via the website by Friday 19 July 2024.
E-certificates of achievement will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
Submit your competition entry forms by 4.30 p.m., 10 July 2024.
