I currently teach 1st grade in Louisville, Kentucky.
I first learned about the Modern Classrooms Project at the end of the 2021-2022 school year when my district offered a stipend for completing the Virtual Summer Institute, implementing the model, and becoming a Distinguished Modern Classroom Educator. After that, I decided that I definitely wanted to become a mentor. I hope to work with other teachers in my building/district to implement the model.
One thing I love about MCP is the independence it provides students. I have been so impressed with how easily my first graders are able to get started on their independent work and move through each self-paced lesson.
When not at school, you can find me playing outside with my kids, reading, or hiking.
