Quality, these days, is freed from the traditional professional tag and has expanded its wings in all dimensions of our daily lives. In the modern world the quality of the work, one has completed, doesn’t count but what matters is that how much quality work has been accomplished. The reasons behind providing such importance over quality is to ensure the best productivity within a given time-frame and without exploiting much of energy or effort of people involved. Beyond any professional set-up, this is equally true at the domestic or familial level. For instance, you have hired an extra hand for home maintenance but you were not critical enough about judging true potential of the person while confirming him. Ultimately, you get trapped in a situation where further assistance or involvement of your family members will be required to complete the maintenance work. The same thing is applicable for a person, who reads a lot but doesn’t know using it in real life. Failure of a cook to justify his culinary skills may not only push you to the extent of killing your appetite but also it might be needful to spend days and hours of tension before you get to find a qualified alternative.
Quality is the quintessential human DNA when it comes to proving our quality in what we do and what we do best. The actual worth of a person and his character is best reflected through the quality output of his work. The regular run of our lives imposes challenges of different magnitude. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how quickly we have dodged the problem but how effectively it has been resolved. Unfortunately, majority of us fail to understand this aspect. We believe that focusing on quality or grooming ourselves in a quality-oriented manner is strictly restricted to the professional disciplines only. Yet, when it comes to making personal choices, we, naturally opt for quality over quantity. Still not convinced? Let’s cite a realistic situation that almost everyone of us has experienced.
What did you do while made up your mind about purchasing a car? The much talked about and practiced Plan-Do-Check-Act Deming’s cycle is here for a while. Though not every one of us know about the technical specification, yet before finalizing a deal, we plan our budget and requirement, match them up accordingly with all the options available in the market and finally check them out through users’ feedback as well as first hand test-driving. It is not just about ensuring the best value of the money but also the attempt to affirm that the best convenience of the vehicle we can enjoy for a long time.
This is just an example of how we value quality in the daily run of our life and it is not always a conscious effort. Sooner we learn acknowledging consciously that it is quality and not quantity that determines the course of our action in every discipline of our lives better would it be for us in determining the course of action in a more planned manner. Cite such examples at yourself and you will understand the importance of quality inputs both at work and personal spheres of life.
