From menu planning to food prep to culinary vlogging experience, students will be immersed in real-world learning experiences. Local restaurants and hospitality companies are instructional partners, sharing industry knowledge and current trends. Kitchen procedures, sanitation and safety, estimating, budgeting, advanced baking, advanced cookery, catering, barista training, cafe management, food photography and food blogging/vlog will all be covered. This two-year course of study will provide the knowledge and experience applicable to working in all types of restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, catering companies and food related entertainment. Students can earn industry certifications from the WA State Food Handlers Program and the NRA ServSafe Management Course. Students can earn 2 BBCC credits for first aid/CPR certification. Tech Prep credits are available through Walla Walla Community College.
You earn a total of three credits per year for one or two year long course--Up to 3 occupational or elective credits per year. Part of the 3 credits earned can be 1 art credit, 1 tech math credit and 1 food tech science credit.
