Moses Lake High School Band

Please welcome our new co-director for the band...Pablo Hernandez

Dear Moses Lake Band Families,

It is with great excitement and anticipation that I introduce myself to you as the newest member of the Moses Lake High School team of band directors! I am humbled by the opportunity to collaborate with the teaching staff, parents and administration to continue to build a culture of excellence for our students.

Following graduation from Pacific Lutheran University in December of 2018, I taught at Ferrucci Jr. High in the Puyallup School District. My assignments included concert bands, marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, and elementary band grades 5/6. During this time I performed with the South Sound Symphonic Band and PLU concert band, and earned an invitation to audition for a euphonium opening in the United States Air Force Ceremonial Band in Washington D.C.

I strongly believe that all band students - from beginning to the most advanced level - are capable of showing improvement. I want to support each individual on this upward trajectory of growth. As part of my teaching philosophy, I place great importance on developing excellent instrument specific fundamental skills and music literacy. My goal is that through hard work and daily structured practice inside and outside the band room, students will learn to love creating music and making excellent sounds on their instrument. Additionally, I carry a high level of respect for the rehearsal process and value the roles that both teacher and student take on when achieving a top quality musical product. Through effort, persistence and teamwork, I am committed to guiding all students on a path toward musical achievement at the highest level. It is through living this process that students learn how to be successful, and can then apply it to other areas of their life.

Again, I am honored to be part of the Moses Lake team and look forward to making a positive, lasting contribution to the band program. Getting to know the students and their families will be a priority as I prepare to embrace the Moses Lake school community. Please know your students’ band experience is of tremendous importance to me, and I welcome a conversation to discuss how I can best serve them inside and outside of the classroom. I look forward to getting to know all of you over the coming months.
