The "item group overrides" are used for this purpose. You can specify different periods for different types of patron groups (for example, staff or non-resident members).

Once you know what "patron group" you want to have different circulation settings for, you will need to modify them. Go into "GROUPS" and edit the patron group by clicking on the pencil icon on the right side

Click on "item group overrides" and see if "item group" has the check box selected. If so, this means you are overriding the setting for it. At this point, you can just uncheck the box or you can edit this by clicking the pencil icon to the right and changing either the loan or renewal period. Finally, click "apply", and then "save".
