ABOUT

  • Prof. Ketan V. Karandikar is presently working as a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering Department of MIT-WPU School of Polytechnic and Skill Development, Kothrud, Pune, Maharashtra, India. He has a teaching experience of 7.5 years. Prior to joining MAEER’s MIT Polytechnic, he has worked as a Technical Research Analyst with KPIT Cummins Infosystems Ltd. on a first of its kind research project undertaken by the company. It was a Cummins Ltd; USA research project which involved technical and market research for developing a completely new, technically sound and cost effective fuel filtration system for Cummins natural gas engines for which he achieved a high level of C-Sat. He also has successfully completed in-plant training at ‘Elecon Engineering Company Ltd.’ Gujarat which is Asia’s largest manufacturer of industrial transmissions. His areas of interest include Design Engineering, Automobile Engineering, R&D and CAE.

  • He has completed his Masters in Mechanical Design Engineering from University of Pune securing First Class Distinction. He has been an alumni of the prestigious MAEER’s MIT Pune, completing his B.E. Mechanical in First Class. He has been also been a notable alumni of MAEER’s MIT Polytechnic, with his name in the Roll of Honour List of the institute for being a First Rank Holder during all 3 years of his Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

  • He has won the Best Research Paper Award in the stream ‘Advances in Mechanical Engineering’ for his research paper “ Design, Modeling and FEM Analysis of Crankshaft and Camshaft of a Passenger Car using Different Materials” at the 2nd World Congress on Engineering and Applications (WCEA) organised by ASRES and SCMR in December 2017, held at Pattaya, Thailand.

  • His teaching expertise includes the subjects viz. Industrial Fluid Power, Automobile Engineering, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery, Engineering Mechanics, Two-wheeler Repair & Maintenance, Engineering Graphics, Environmental Technologies & Energy Management, and Engineering Metrology. He has also handled the subjects Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) and Measurements and Control.

  • Prof. Ketan V. Karandikar has published 5 research papers in International Journals and presented 2 research papers at International conferences. He is also a life-member of Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and International Association of Engineers (IAENG). He has successfully completed MSBTE sponsored training programs at TATA Motors Ltd; BOSCH and Suzlon Energy Ltd. and has attended various workshops sponsored by SPPU, NSTEDB and MIT, Pune.

  • Being the laboratory in-charge, he has played a major role in recently setting up the 'Two-wheeler Repair & Maintenance Laboratory', a one-of-its-kind, well-developed skill development laboratory to enhance the hands-on skills of Integrated B.Tech students.

  • He has organised hands-on training workshops on ‘2-Wheeler Servicing’ and ‘Car Servicing’ to enhance the practical skills of students. He has guided students during their final year projects, industrial visits, and to secure prizes in state level paper presentation competitions. He has been the co-ordinator of Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) and active member of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, Technical Committee and Sports Committee of the institute. He has continuously been receiving excellent feedback for his teaching from students.
