The Hanumagiri Temple was established with the vision of reviving and promoting the cultural and spiritual values of India, particularly those rooted in the Ramayana and the devotion to Lord Hanuman. The temple features a striking 11-foot tall monolithic statue of Panchamukhi Anjaneya (five-faced Hanuman), carved from black stone, representing a rare and powerful form of Hanuman symbolizing protection, strength, and divinity.
The temple is not just a place of worship but also a cultural center, fostering Indian traditions, rituals, and personality development through storytelling, Ramayana-based art, and educational activities. Over time, it has evolved into a spiritual and cultural hub for the Tulu Nadu region.
The Hanumagiri Temple, located in the scenic region of Ishwaramangala, is nestled amidst the verdant hills and serene landscapes of Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district. This spiritually charged destination is approximately 5 kilometers south of Sullia and roughly 23 kilometers from the town of Puttur. Though tucked away from bustling cities, the temple has become a prominent pilgrimage and cultural site, especially for devotees of Lord Hanuman.

ಹನುಮಗಿರಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಪುನರಾರಂಭಿಸಲು ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಯಿತು, ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ರಾಮಾಯಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾದಿರುವವು ಮತ್ತು ಹನುಮಾನ್ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಿರುವವು. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಕಪ್ಪು ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿತವಾದ 11 ಅಡಿ ಎತ್ತರದ ಏಕಪಟ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ದೇವರು (ಪಂಚಮುಖಿ ಆಂಜನೇಯ) ನ ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ಪ್ರತಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿಯುತ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ರೂಪವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ, ಇದು ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು, ಶಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ದೈವತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

Gejjegiri Temple, also known as Sri Kshetra Gejjegiri, is a revered religious site located in Nandanabittil, a village in Puttur Taluk, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. This temple holds significant cultural and spiritual importance in the Tulu Nadu region
Gejjegiri is renowned as the moolasthana (original place) of Deyi Baideyi, a prominent deity in Tuluva traditions. It is also recognized as the birthplace of the legendary warriors Koti and Chennaya, celebrated for their valor and devotion. The temple complex has been a center for religious activities and community gatherings for centuries.
To further enrich the cultural heritage, the temple initiated the formation of a Yakshagana Mela (theater troupe) named Sri Deyi Baideyi Koti Chennaya Kripaposhita Yakshagana Mandali. The troupe aims to perform the "Shree Gejjegiri Kshetra Mahatme" play, depicting the legends associated with the temple. The troupe features renowned artists, including Girish Rai Kakke Padavu and Niranjan Poojari Badagabelluru, and incorporates traditional elements like Himmela (percussion) and Mummela (dance).
Gejjegiri Temple is situated in the village of Gejjegiri, near Puttur, in Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. The temple lies about 3 kilometers from Mudinaadka, a well-known local landmark. It is easily accessible from Puttur, which is a significant town in the region. The temple is located about 60 km from Mangalore, a major city in the coastal area. Sulya, another town nearby, is around 30 km from Gejjegiri. The temple is renowned for its cultural and religious significance, drawing devotees from across the region. Visitors can travel by road, with convenient access from Mangalore and Sulya. The scenic journey through the Western Ghats adds to the temple’s appeal.

ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಗಿರಿ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ತುಳುವ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ದೇವತೆ అయిన ದೇಯಿ ಬೈದ್ಯೆಯ ಮೂಲಸ್ಥಾನ (ಮೂಲ ಸ್ಥಳ) ಎಂದಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು ದೈವವೀರರಾದ ಕೋಟಿಚೆನ್ನಯ್ಯರ ಜನ್ಮಸ್ಥಾನ ಎಂದು ಕೂಡ ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ, ಯಾರು ತಮ್ಮ ಶಕ್ತಿಶಾಲಿತ್ವ ಮತ್ತು ಭಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಶತಮಾನಗಳಿಂದ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದಾಯ ಸಭೆಗಳ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿದೆ.
ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಪಡಿಸಲು, ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಶ್ರೀ ದೇಯಿ ಬೈದ್ಯೆಟಿ ಕೋಟಿಚೆನ್ನಯ್ಯ ಕೃಪಾಪೋಷಿತ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಮಂಡಳಿ ಎಂಬ ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಮೇಳವನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿತು. ಈ ಮೇಳವು ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಕಥೆಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ "ಶ್ರೀ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಗಿರಿ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಮಹಾತ್ಮೆ" ಎಂಬ ನಾಟಕವನ್ನು ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲು ಉದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿದೆ. ಈ ಮೇಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರುತಿಸಿದ ಕಲಾವಿದರು, ಗಿರಿಷ್ ರೈ ಕಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡುವು ಮತ್ತು ನಿರಂಜನ್ ಪೂಜಾರಿ ಬಡಗಬೆಲೂರು ಸೇರಿವೆ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಮ್ಮೇಳ (ತುಂಬಿದ ಸಲಗಿ) ಮತ್ತು ಮುಮ್ಮೇಳ (ನೃತ್ಯ) ಮುಂತಾದ ಪರಂಪರাগত ಅಂಶಗಳನ್ನು ಒಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಗಿರಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಪುತ್ತೂರು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಗಿರಿ ಎಂಬ ಹಳ್ಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾದ ಮುಡಿಯಡ್ಕ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 3 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಪುತ್ತೂರಿನಿಂದ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ತಲುಪಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ, ಇದು ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾಗಿದೆ. ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಿಂದ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನವು ಸುಮಾರು 60 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಕರಾವಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ನಗರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವಾದ ಸುಳ್ಯ, ಗೆಜ್ಜೆಗಿರಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 30 ಕಿಲೋಮೀಟರ್ ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯವು ತನ್ನ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮಹತ್ವಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಇದು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಾದ್ಯಂತ ಭಕ್ತರನ್ನು ಆಕರ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಂಗಳೂರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಳ್ಯದಿಂದ ರಸ್ತೆ ಮಾರ್ಗದ ಮೂಲಕ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿ ಈ ದೇವಾಲಯಕ್ಕೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಬಹುದು. ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಘಟ್ಟಗಳ ಮನೋರಮ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಸಾಗುವ ಈ ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಮೆರಗು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ.
