New Safety Procedures
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to providing a safe learning environment in the Mansfield Independent School District. The Mansfield ISD would like to share with you the most recent integration to our Safety Procedures that is being shared to parents/guardians, students, staff, volunteers, and the community. Through ongoing discussions and security process reviews with our district leadership team, the Mansfield ISD Police Department, and our School Safety Committee, we have installed an additional layer of security to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and visitors at all of our schools.
We will be locking the front doors at all of the schools during the day as an additional layer of security. Each school is installed with a video doorbell (AIPHONE) that will be utilized when the front doors are locked. The AIPHONE intercom systems are an enhancement to the existing visitor screening procedures (RAPTOR), which are currently in place.
- Guests arriving on campus will request access using the AIPHONE Intercom System next to the school’s main entry door by pressing the button on the AIPHONE.
- When the front office staff answers, visitors will be asked for their name and the reason for their visit, which may include their child’s name.
- Visitors may be asked to display photo identification to the camera. Accepted identification include; Driver’s License, ID Card, Passport, Government paperwork with photo, Birth certificate with photo ID, Student ID, or Military ID.
- Office staff may ask visitors to remove sunglasses, hats or any objects they may be obscuring their view of identifying individuals on the camera.
- Once approved and granted access, our visitors will again present photo identification and will receive a visitor’s pass using the existing visitor screening system (RAPTOR).
- As you enter the school’s main entrance, we ask that you do not hold the door open allowing others not granted access to enter with you. All visitors need to be approved and granted access by the office staff prior to entering the building.
- When scheduled school events are occurring on campus, the campus Principal may adopt supplemental procedures to assist with visitor attendance.
Again, our goal is to add another layer of security and have the front doors locked at all schools during school hours. Visitors should plan to arrive at our schools earlier to expedite their visit.
Prioritizing student and staff safety is a commitment we all share. Please contact your child’s principal with any questions. Thank you again for your continued support in keeping our students and staff members safe and secure.

We do allow treats for the class; however, we have guidelines set in place to ensure students’ needs are met in the classroom. In order to bring an edible treat, such as store bought cookies/cupcakes, to your child’s class you must notify the teacher three days prior to bringing the treat. This gives the teacher an opportunity to schedule a time to celebrate your child that follows nutrition guidelines and does not interfere with instruction. We have many students with allergies in our classrooms; the three-day notice gives time for parents to be notified to bring a treat for their child if they desire to bring an alternative.
You may consider bringing a non-edible treat such birthday pencils, erasers or stickers for each student. Another idea is adding a Birthday Book to the teacher’s class library. On the inside cover, write your child’s name, age, and year. This will be treasured for years to come as the teacher and students get to enjoy the book together.
Thank you for working in partnership with us to celebrate your child in a way that best meets the needs of all students and allow for optimal instruction in the classroom.
Q: Are some students being monitored for G/T and would we know already?
A: Students are not being monitored for G/T if they are not currently in the G/T program. All students were tested at the end of 2nd grade. You can request your child to be tested again at the end of the 3rd grade year if you feel they are G/T.
Q: How is spelling homework to be turned in? Should it be done in a notebook?
A: We have told the students that spelling homework can be done on notebook paper or plain copy paper. If they have a notebook at home that they wish to use, that is fine, just have them rip the pages out. All 4 activities will be give to the teacher on Friday. We asked the students to try to complete as many activities as they can on 1 piece of paper and then move on to the next piece, just to not be wasteful.
Q: Do the teachers wipe down the desks throughout the day to help with spreading germs?
A: The custodians wipe the desks down every day after school and teachers do an additional wipe down weekly, at their discretion. Hand sanitizer is readily available in all classes.
Q: Are the 5 vocabulary words included in daily reading activities?
A: Vocabulary words are integrated in lessons throughout the week. We send them home just for extra practice.
Q: How do we add another email to get the Skyward emails to both parents?
A: Skyward emails go to people who are labeled in Skyward as guardians. You can either go into Skyward and add additional guardians yourself, or if you can need assistance please contact our PIEMS Clerk, Kathy Moore at KatherineMoore@misdmail.org.
Q: Can we get a copy of the curriculum slideshow?
A: Of course! Homeroom teachers will be emailing it out this week.
Q: Are there any field trips where parents can join as chaperones? And when?
A: We are so excited that you're ready and willing to help on our field trip! Information about our field trip will be coming soon. We have to get all the details worked out before we can inform parents.
Q: Will 3rd grade teachers be using Education Galaxy and when will it be implemented?
A: Yes! All 3rd grade teachers will be using Education Galaxy once all students have been transferred to their new teachers profile. This can take a couple of weeks.
Q: Do you want the students to attend Parent/Teacher Conferences?
A: This is a parents decision to make.
Q: Will there be Raz Kids this year for reading?
A: Absolutely and we wish we had added it to the slides! So we will be sending home information about Raz Kids very soon!
Q: How often will grades be entered?
A: Once we gain access to our classes, grades will be entered weekly. There will be at least 1 science grade, 1 social studies grade, 2 reading grades, and 2 math grades entered per week.
Q: How do we get access to Microsoft Office 365?
A: Students will be setting up their accounts in Computer class soon. After they do this as a class, it will be available for home use.
