Missing a couple of varsity wrestlers, the lady whippets split their duals in a triangular at McCook. The wrestlers opened the night against the McCook Bison, taking advantage of 7 wins by forfeit to win by a score of 58-18. Maliyah Melroy and Myia Hofaker both won by fall in the dual, with Myia notching her 50th career pin.
Minden took on Class A#2 Lexington in the second dual and was unable to gain any momentum, losing by a score of 65-15. Maliyah Melroy capped her outstanding night with a 4-3 win over two-time state qualifier Furgison. Madalyn Morey also stepped up for the team at 105 with a second period fall against her opponent.Â
The varsity squad travels to Ord on Thursday and then junior varsity travels to Shelton on Saturday to finish a busy week of competiton. With only a week and a half of the regular season remaining before the state dual and conference tournaments, the whippets are looking to round into form and be ready to end the season on a high note.
