It has been a long and grueling week for the Minden girls wrestling team, with early mornings and covering over 700 miles traveling to and from tournaments. The girls were up to the task, winning two team titles and wrestling very strong going into districts next week. The Minden girls rode the momentum from their state duals title on Thursday into winning the first ever Southwest Conference tournament in Ogallala. Five champions led the way for the whippets as they scored 180.5 points, rolling past second place Broken Bow who finished with 105. Xitlali Nunez, Aliena Osterbuhr, Myka Petersen, Victoria Hansen, and Isabel Serrano all took home individual titles, and all 13 wrestlers finished in the top 3 of their weight class. Aliena Osterbuhr also reached another milestone in her incredible career, earning her 100th career pin.
Minden will look to continue their strong showing into the B2 district tournament in Falls City Friday and Saturday, where the top four wrestlers at each weight class will clinch their berth in the individual Class B state tournament. It promises to be a great test of Minden's individual tournament abilities, with the #2, #8, and #9 teams among the 32 teams competing and over 30 ranked wrestlers.
