The middle school girls team opened their season in Fairbury. Middle school wrestling tournaments operate differently than high school, as all wrestlers score team points. 21 whippets hit the mats and put up 186.5 team points to finish in third place, though both teams in front of Minden had more wrestlers and thus more point-scorers. Even with fewer wrestlers, Minden girls scored the most points in their matches and racked up 25 wins by fall or tech fall. The team also notched 70 takedowns, a major point of development for our middle school program.
Three ladies earned tournament titles in Aubree Kring, Emma Bernshausen, and Kalista Sowles. It was a great first showing for the middle school program, and we look forward to seeing their growth and development this season!
