Pair of whippets headed to state

Eleven ladies took to the mats for the whippets at the district tournament in Broken Bow, hoping to earn a top 4 finish and a place at next week's state tournament.

For the third time this season, Aliena Osterbuhr pinned #5 Saije Phelps of Sandhills Valley en route to a championship. The victory was Osterbuhr's 37th of the season, raising the bar even further after she had already broke her own school record for wins in a season earlier in the day. It will also give her a top seed at the state tournament in the 120 pound weight class.

Xitlali Nunez continued her breakout season with a 4th place finish in the 100 pound weight class, qualifying out of a tough district along with the #4, #6, and #7 ranked wrestlers. This will be the junior's first state tournament appearance, and she is excited for the opportunity to continue building on her 26-11 record.

The rest of the team wrestled admirably, including Aubree Bules, Isabel Serrano, and Cheyenne Vahl who all fell just one win short of qualifying for state. Xitlali and Aliena will represent the Minden Girls team at state starting Thursday at 3pm.
