The lady whippets were in dual action against Wood River, a battle of two small school teams with big rosters. Minden and Wood River both have at least 15 girls on the roster, impressive participation numbers for towns with less than 3500 people, especially when you consider those schools are normally competing against Omaha, Lincoln, and Grand Island schools.Â
Both teams were missing key pieces due to injury or illness, but in the end Minden was able to overcome those absences and win the dual 36-33. The night was highlighted by two wins by fall from Cheyenne Vahl and Xitlali Nunez, both of which are having breakout seasons in their junior year and first year on the varsity roster. The lady whippets evened their dual record to 1-1 on the season. Next up they will travel to Stapleton for the Sandhills Valley Invitational, where they have won the team title each of the last two years.
