JOB SUMMARY:
Maintains sanitation of dishes, utensils and dishwasher, kitchen and dining areas. Serves meals to residents according to dietary restrictions and maintains clean and sanitary conditions in the kitchen and dining area.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Sets tables as needed including dishware, silverware, condiments and beverages.
Serves meals to residents according to dietary restrictions and garnish plates.
Clears tables of used items and maintains an overall cleanliness in dining room.
Assists residents in obtaining any alternative food items they may need or desire.
Helps cooks when needed.
Stocks and refills items and supplies on a routine basis according to resident needs.
Responsible for the overall cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen and equipment, and observe and report need to repair equipment.
Loads and washes dishes, pots, pans and utensils.
Unloads and stores clean dishes.
Follows state and federal regulations, as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Dining Department Policy and Procedure Manuals, Human Resources Manual, and Resident Bill of Rights, and adheres to safety rules.
Serve meal in appropriate fashion for your station - assisting in any and all residents needs.
Clear, clean and reset your area; make sure all tables have necessary condiments and silverware.
Deliver supplies as needed.
Vacuum or sweep and mop floor as appropriate.
Make and deliver resident trays or carry-out meals.
Maintains overall cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Qualifications, Skills and Physical Demands):
At least 16 years of age, with a youth apprentice application on file with Milwaukee Public Schools
Able to communicate, understand and differentiate dietary restrictions.
Transports trays and heavy carts (push or pull forces up to 44 pounds) throughout the dining rooms in Home, Health Care, and/or Special Care areas.
Requires frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Maintains sanitary conditions in dishwasher, kitchen and dining area as stated by Federal, State and Luther Manor codes.
Presents oneself in a positive and courteous manner using clear and effective communication skills while interacting with residents and staff.
Works effectively as a team member and is also self directed, working a flexible schedule.
Must be able to pass routine or periodic drug testing per policy.
Actively participates in or initiates problem solving in job-related issues. Works positively with coworkers, sharing job responsibilities when assignments are completed and in times of shortage and special projects.
JOB HAZARDS/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS
Duties performed routinely expose worker to sharp objects or edges.
Job tasks regularly expose worker to hot, wet and humid conditions, including wet floors, that pose a slip/trip/fall risk.
Hot objects expose worker to the potential for burn injuries.
Job tasks regularly expose worker to chemical hazards such as detergents, soaps and cleansers.
Job duties routinely expose worker to various odors and fumes throughout the work area.
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS:
Regular use of dishwasher and washing/drying racks.
Regular use of wheeled plate and silverware storage units to transport to/from the dining facilities.
May require exceptionally soiled pots and pans to soak in large sink/basin for manual scrubbing.
Routinely handles all pots, pans, dishware, silverware, food and condiments in the dining facility.
Must wear uniform for specific work area and slip resistant footwear.
