In this course, students will deepen and extend their understanding of algebraic, geometric, and statistical concepts addressed during 8th grade. Emphasis will be placed in six critical areas: (1) numerical to algebraic manipulation; (2) definitions and characteristics of functions; (3) linear v. exponential relationships; (4) using a linear model to describe trends in a data set; (5) determining characteristics and establishing criteria for congruence of triangle and other polygons; and (6) applying the Pythagorean Theorem to the coordinate plane. For the honors level, additional topics will include the study of absolute value and piecewise functions if time allows.
