This class uses a free, web-based system called ActiveLit to enable students to write their own complete interactive fiction game. No coding experience is required, and a fully functioning game can be created without using any computer code at all (although code can certainly be used to enhance the game). The focus will be on using good writing to pull the audience in. Along the way, students will examine different examples of this type of game, determine the qualities that makes a game engaging for the audience, think about the types of stories they want to tell, and have opportunities to enhance and polish their games to make them ready to present to an audience.
