School-Based Mental Health Services
What are school-based mental health services?
School-based mental health services are professional assessments, therapies, and skill trainings provided to individual students at the school, with the support and involvement of the student's parent. The School District of Milton provides free space in a confidential setting to community mental health clinicians because we feel it is beneficial to our students and their families for multiple reasons including:
Removes barriers for students to access needed services
Meets the child in their natural setting/comfort zone
Reduces out of school time to travel to services
Increases opportunities to coordinate services with school, staff, and family
Supports student success and mental health
Who provides school-based mental health services?
The School District of Milton currently has cooperatively agreements with three community mental health agencies.

How can I arrange for school-based mental health services?
The first step in making a referral is deciding which agency to refer your child to. Stateline is currently the only agency providing these services in grades 4K - 3rd grade. If your child is in grades 4th through 12th grade, some factors to consider include:
which agencies are approved providers through your insurance,
whether there are waiting lists for services
whether self-pay on a sliding fee scale is an option, if that is needed
if the agency provides access for evaluation of medications, if that is desired
This can be a confusing process so if you need assistance, please reach out to the School Social Worker or other student services team member. To make a referral to an agency, use the link(s) below.
