Mr. Devito - 4th grade

Class Overview

Dear Fourth Graders, Parents, & Guardians,

Welcome to Mr. DeVito’s 4th grade class located in room 112! I hope you had a wonderful summer and are excited to begin fourth grade! Fourth grade is a year in which you will become more independent, take on more responsibilities, gain confidence in your abilities and explore new things. Students, don’t be afraid to take risks or ask questions. This year is YOUR year! Yes, fourth grade will challenge you, but remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.

This year we will read, discuss and write about engaging topics while focusing on improving spelling, grammar and punctuation. In social studies, we will explore the history of New York and learn more about our government. In math, we will learn multiplication, division, geometry, problem solving skills, and much more. Just so you know… Mr. DeVito LOVES science. We will be covering exciting topics like ecosystems, biomes, electricity, energy, space and weather. As you can tell, we have an exciting year ahead of us! We will utilize our classroom patio and outdoor areas as much as possible… so please bring in a towel to sit on 😊.

Students, please remember to bring your enthusiasm for learning, a positive attitude, sense of humor, caring heart, and willingness to work hard. With these qualities in place, we can accomplish fantastic feats in fourth grade! I can’t wait to get started!

Parents, you are the most important people in your child’s life and I look forward to working with you as a team to ensure their success. Please encourage your child at home to be a responsible student and to always do their best work. Remember to check your child's agenda, homework folder, and backpack nightly for any important information. I also need you to help your child study for quizzes and tests, if necessary. Together, we will make this year a successful one for your child.

Please never hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am here to help! You can reach me through the school phone, email (adevito@millerplace.k12.ny.us), or the Remind app. I will be sending out more information on the app this week - please be sure to sign up! Parents, please fill out and return the forms that were sent home today as soon as possible. Again, I am excited to work with your child this year and look forward to meeting you at Curriculum Night. Thank you!

Respectfully,

Mr. DeVito
