Overview
I am so excited to welcome you all into our class! We will be working together to make this year as fun and engaging as possible! We will be diving into new topics in social studies. Such as, the creation of tools and their impact on our society, as well as, learning about ancient societies that have helped shape the world we live in today! In ELA, you will be working on your writing skills in order to feel more prepared and confident in the writing strategies we will be exploring. We will also be expanding on some reading and comprehension strategies that you're familiar with, and introducing you to some new ones!
The Learning Pit
How can you work to dig yourself out? What are some tools that will help you succeed? The Learning Pit is a tool used to describe how learning can be difficult, but showcases that there is a way out. This visual gives students a representation as to what happens when you struggle to understand a topic. Students will learn that it is okay to fail, to struggle. It is hard work to succeed, but through the use of productive struggle, students will come out more confident in themselves as learners.
