Welcome March! As we step into this new month, there’s a sense of excitement in the air—spring is just around the corner, and with it comes fresh opportunities for growth, discovery, and learning.
We’re looking forward to some exciting upcoming grade-level field trips! These experiences give our students a chance to connect their classroom learning with the world beyond our school walls, all while making memories they’ll cherish for years to come. Be on the lookout for more information from your child’s teacher soon.
We've introduced our new focus on acceptance and diversity. Throughout the month, we’ll be reading stories, having discussions, and engaging in activities that help us learn about different cultures, perspectives, and the importance of kindness and inclusion. Be sure to check out this month’s Principal Pick Read-Aloud below centered around our new focus.
As always, one of the most important ways you can help your child succeed is through consistent attendance. Every day in school is a day filled with new opportunities for learning and connection.

Huge thank you to our incredible PTO and the Elm Drive staff volunteers! The Valentine's Day Tall & Small Ball was an incredible success. From dinner and dancing, to photo ops and crafting, it was definitely a night to remember!
Thank you, Engineers!
DiscoverE is designed to spark an interest in math and science in our community's youth to help them become the engineers of tomorrow. This year, students in Kindergarten enjoyed exploring and creating paper airplanes while 1st and 2nd Grade students created 'Duck-A-Pults'!
Building Empathy Board Game
Students focused on perspective taking and understanding what it means to "put yourself in others shoes."

The Big Umbrella is a beautiful story about inclusion and being part of a community. It begins with an umbrella sitting next to a door. A child takes the umbrella for a walk on a rainy day and welcomes anyone who may need shelter. It did not matter if they were big, hairy, or had 4 legs. All are welcome under the big umbrella.
Discussion Questions:
The umbrella stretches its arms open wide like a giant hug to make room for whoever needs shelter. Notice how they adjust to make room for someone else. How can you adjust your thinking to give space to others?
The umbrella likes to help. How many ways can you think of to help others?
Can you count the number of legs? Notice what makes each of them different and special.
Our hearts are like the umbrella, there is always enough room to love someone else, no matter how many that includes. How do you make new friends?
Look at the last page to see how all the people and animals are sharing and doing things together. Imagine what the world would look like if that happened everywhere you looked?
