CAS TUTORING

We Are #MillbrookStrong!

Students Helping Students

As we all adapt to the changes brought on by the current pandemic, we find ourselves in many new situations which present unique learning challenges.  Millbrook High School is proud and excited to announce that we are offering free tutoring for students Kindergarten-12th grade.  These tutoring services will be provided by our four IB diploma candidates working to fulfill the CAS component of the IB programme.

CAS, Creativity, Activity and Service, is an interactive project-based component of the IB diploma programme in which students can become more aware of issues both globally and in their community.  Through CAS, students undertake a service-learning project that challenges them to show initiative, demonstrate perseverance, and develop skills such as collaboration, problem solving, and decision making.

The  main platform for these tutoring services will be Google Meets through video conferences.  Tutoring sessions will be 30 minutes in length and available for scheduling at various times throughout the week. Each tutor’s information and sign-up link are listed below. The link brings you to the tutor’s Google Form to sign up and submit necessary information.  Once a date and time is solidified by the tutor, you will receive an email invitation from one of our district’s TA’s, who will also be proctoring the tutoring session. The invitation will include the set date, time and link for the tutoring session.  All information provided on the forms and subsequent tutoring sessions are confidential.

Let us come together as a community to help each other through these uncertain times because We Are #MillbrookStrong!

Julian Vasquez

My name is Julian Vasquez, and I am a senior at Millbrook High School.  I am an IB diploma candidate who has taken rigorous college-level classes for the past two years and I would like to do what I can to help the community. Without face-to-face contact with teachers, it can become more difficult to ask questions and get help with material that is unclear. My availability will be Tuesday-Friday from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Upon request, sessions can be conducted in Spanish, as that is my native language. I am looking forward to aiding our community in adapting to these unprecedented circumstances.

Grace Letizia

My name is Grace Letizia and I am a senior currently enrolled in the IB Diploma Programme at Millbrook High School.  Along with college-level academics, the IB Diploma Programme has also taught me why it is important to play a valuable role in my community and how to be the best community member possible. In an effort to support educators and families of our Millbrook community, I am both excited and proud to take action and help those in need. My days of availability are Wednesday-Friday from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. I look forward to helping fellow students in the community thrive in their education.

Alice Pandaleon

My name is Alice Pandaleon, and I am a junior at Millbrook High School.  I know everyone has been doing their best to make this transition smooth, but it makes it a bit harder to find the time to reach out for help. Due to this reality, I would like to offer my services as a tutor to anyone who may need it. As an IB diploma student, I have spent this year enrolled in high-level courses for every subject-area, and want to employ my knowledge by helping others. My availability is Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2- 4p.m. Coming together as a community will get us through these uncertain times.

Benjamin Lacey

My name is Benjamin Lacey, and I am a junior at Millbrook High School. I would like to extend my support to our community, as we transition to a new way of learning. This pandemic has presented everyone with new challenges to overcome and one of these challenges happens to be learning remotely. As an IB diploma candidate, I have gone through many vigorous and time-consuming courses during the past year, which has made me a stronger student, ready to take on challenges. My availability is Monday and Thursday from 1:00-4:00 pm. As a proud Millbrook community member, I strive to do all that I can for our community.
