To log in to library databases use your Millbrook Google account.
To begin your search enter a “keyword” in the red search bar. Once you enter the keyword click search.
In this example “World war II” was the keyword and the results were displayed.
Scroll through the results to find useful materials. Physical books in the library will always appear first, and articles will appear further down. Click 'Access now' to read an article.
If you are doing a research project it would be helpful to create a new project - this is like a folder where all of your research for this project can be stored.
To create a project make sure you are logged in in the top right corner. Click sign in and use the sign-in / continue with google. This will use your @millbrook.org account (so make sure you are not on your personal email account).
Saving your resources in the projects tab is a handy way to quickly gather your materials and be able to cite them later on. There also is a tool that allows you to see an auto-generated citation but be sure to double-check them by using a citation guide - copy and paste can destroy the formatting!
As you search for your research materials you can filter the results to specific items.
An example would be If you wanted to just search for items in our library you would click on All Filters right under the search bar. Next you would select Content Provider then you would click the check box next to Millbrook School Library.
Using the advanced search can allow you to focus on specific results for your search using the functions AND, OR, NOT. For example: world AND war will give you results that use both of those terms. You can also type the search in using quotations: "world war" will give you results where those words appear next to each other rather than searching for all words containing world and all words containing war.
Ebsco has a research tool called a concept map. This is a nifty tool that allows you to hone in one a topic or keyword. For example if I search libraries it will give topics around that keyword or topic.
