How to prepare for your in-home postpartum breastfeeding consult:
-24 hours prior to our appointment, I will send you an intake form via text or email. Please complete this form at least 2 hours before our appointment time so that our time together can maximized!
-Please do not worry about tidying or cleaning your home! I am fully understanding of the 4th trimester and the survival mode that all moms are in those first few weeks. I want our visit to be free of pressure and stress!
-Please try to time your babies feeding needs around my visit. It is helpful to not feed your baby for at least 30-45 minutes prior to our scheduled time. If your baby is signaling that they are very hungry within that 45 minute window, try to give them a little "snack" vs. a full feeding. This will allow me to observe a nursing session for our assessment!
-If you are bottle feeding (either expressed breastmilk or formula), please have those prepared before I arrive. This is a great way for your partner to assist, as well!
-Plan to meet with me in the space where YOU are most comfortable. I want to observe you and your baby in the spots where you are most often nursing.
-Please write down any questions that you would like for me to address.
-While I am a big animal lover (especially cats!), they can sometimes be a distraction throughout our time. Please secure all pets in a space separate from where you would like to meet with me.
-I encourage your partner to be present at all breastfeeding consultations if they are able! Having support on your journey is crucial, and partners are always welcome to join you. Please limit the number of adults (besides yourself) to one person. Any and all children are welcome to be present!
