December Newsletter 2020

Dear Parents,

First term is coming to a close and we are looking forward to our Christmas holidays. School will close for the Christmas holidays on Tuesday, 22nd December at 11:50am for Junior Infants. 1st Class, 3rd Class and 5th Class. Senior Infants, 2nd Class, 4th Class and 6th Class will finish at 12 Noon. Uniforms are not compulsory on this day. Children may even wear festive clothing if they wish and bring one treat to eat with their small lunch (Milford N.S. is a Nut Free Zone).

Thank you for your cooperation and support this year. Working together we have managed to keep the children and each other safe. Wishing you a very happy and peaceful Christmas.

Rainbows

Rainbows is a peer support group for children experiencing parental separation. If you are interested in having your child join Rainbows please email rainbows@milfordns.ie or contact Rainbows coordinators Maggie Kinnerk, Hannah O’ Sullivan or Áine Fitzpatrick on (061) 339123.

Rise and Shine Morning Club

The Rise and Shine club has a few remaining spaces available for January - June 2021. The club is supervised by Ms. Emma Dolphin and Ms. Geraldine Mitchell and runs Monday to Friday from 7:50am - 8:40am. Please contact emma.dolphin@milfordns.ie or geraldine.mitchell@milfordns.ie with any queries.

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to our past pupils Gearóid Hegarty (player) , Paul Kinnerk (selector & coach) and the Limerick Senior Hurling Squad on being crowned All Ireland Hurling Champions 2020. Gearóid was selected as the Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final. Congratulations also to Joseph Fitzgerald (past pupil) who is playing with the Limerick Minor Hurlers. The team won the Munster Minor Hurling title at the weekend. We wish Joe the very best of luck in the All Ireland Semi Final. Luimneach Abú!

A special mention to our parents, Johann van Grann, JP Ferreira and Keith Earls who are associated with the Munster Rugby Squad. The team performances have given everyone a great lift during the winter months. The very best of luck in the weeks and months ahead.

Cheetah Adoption

Well done to 4th Class who responded to the news that the wildlife parks and zoos were in need of funding due to the Covid 19 situation. The pupils researched endangered animals and developed information reports. The class raised money and adopted a Cheetah from FOTA Wildlife Park. By their actions, the pupils have raised awareness for the endangered animals around the world.

Pizza Party!

Congratulations to Sana (2nd Class) and Rory (6th Class) for winning a pizza party for their respective classes. The parties took place last week!

Upcoming events...

Parent/Teacher Meetings

Parent / teacher meetings will take place during the week beginning Monday, 18th January 2021. The meetings will take place over the phone.

Parents will be able to book time slots to receive a phone call. This will be done via the Aladdin App/Portal which will open in January when we return to school.
