Supporting our families with resources to connect student learning in the home environment is critical.
MPS believes in a comprehensive and balanced approach to assessing students. Each assessment has a
variety of purposes and outcomes that are utilized by teachers and administrators for instructional
decision making. The annual summative assessments provide our district with important information to
inform our programmatic and curricular decision making and planning efforts. These assessments
provide a snapshot of a student’s progress toward meeting mastery of the knowledge and skills
necessary to be college and career ready in alignment with the Milford Public Schools Vision of the
Learner. Mandatory assessments administered annually include Smarter Balanced (Grades 3-8), Next
Generation Science (Grades 5, 8, & 11), Connecticut Physical Fitness Assessment (Grades 4, 6, 8, and
HS), and the Connecticut SAT School Day (Grade 11).
