Course description: This course aims to acquaint students with basic human biology and the human body's major anatomical systems. A midwife who understands the body and how it functions is far more capable of helping clients with specific problems that may arise during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology is an indispensable component of midwifery training. This course covers the identification and essential functions of various body systems, including the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic and immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. There is also a discussion on how pregnancy affects these body systems.
