ENGL 1050 - Technical Writing for Midwives - 1 cr.
PRE-REQUISITE:
ENGL 1010 or equivalent
DESCRIPTION:
The student will review the writing skills necessary for midwives including creating research papers, practice guidelines, client educational materials, business letters, as well as writing for both general and professional publication. There is a strong emphasis on APA format and style. Students will begin ongoing creation of their ePortfolio.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this course, the students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following areas:
Demonstrate and employ correct grammar, usage, punctuation, and spelling
Compose orderly and lucid writing in multiple styles for various audiences:
Expository and persuasive writing for a general audience
Expository and persuasive writing for a professional audience

Summarize, analyze, and connect research in original writing
Revise, edit, and evaluate the writing of self and others
