BIOL 2010 - GENETICS - 2cr.

DESCRIPTION:

Students will be introduced to the biology of genetics, key genetic conditions related to the practice of midwifery, and competence in genetic counseling and history taking. 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

1. Students will demonstrate an introductory knowledge of the biology of genetics.

2. Students will develop proficiency in genetic history taking, genetic counseling, and the offering of genetic testing.

3. Students will develop and apply skills in research by completing a research project of a genetics topic of their choice.

4. Students will demonstrate knowledge of genetic conditions and their biological basis.

5. Students will demonstrate competence in communication of genetic information and shared decision making.
