The below information will be reviewed ahead of ScotJam 2025.
The ScotJam: Cubs programme was about giving Cubs the opportunity to try new and exciting adventrous activities, and in the process of doing so participants completed a number of badge requirements.
We encourage all Cubs to share their ScotJam experience with their Pack Leader, who will be able to award any badges that participants are eligible for. The information below, can be used to guide this conversation.
The ScotJam: Cubs programme consisted of seven different activities. This included hill walking; mega stand-up paddle boarding; bush craft; rock climbing; abseiling; canoeing or kayaking; and sailing or raft building.

All Cubs who attend ScotJam: Cubs complete all the requirements for the Our Adventure Challenge and were awarded this badge at the end of ScotJam.
In addition Cubs are likely to be eligible to receive the following badges Nautical Skills 1, Paddle Sports 1 and Sailing 1 (Not Activity Groups 5-7). All Cubs also gained an additional four nights away, one hike and six hours worth of water activities on Loch Goil.
Through participating in the ScotJam: Cubs programme, we also beleve that Cubs may have completed the following badge requirements.
Our Outdoors Challenge Award
Take an active part in at least three nights away, on camps or Pack holidays.
While you’re away, work with other Cubs to do all of these tasks
show that you know how to look after yourself and be safe at camp.
show you know what things you need to do to look after your campsite, and that you can put them into practise
While you’re away, do at least two of these tasks as well:
take part in a wide game
take part in a campfire sing-along or other entertainment
care for your personal equipment while at camp
Our Skills Challenge Award
Try two new sports or physical activities at least once.
Learn and use at least four of these skills:
lay a table for a meal & sorting our rubbish/ recycling.
tidy and clean your bedroom.
rotating through clothes and ensuring you have appropriate clothes for activity.
Take part in at least two problem solving activities that you haven’t done before. It should be something that you need to think creatively for. As part of the activity you need to say what you found difficult, what you did to solve the problem, and why.
Teamwork Challenge Award
Take part in at least six different team games with other Cubs.
Show your leaders what you did to help your team, and how you were a good team player.
Give examples of two different types of teams, and roles in those teams.
Complete at least two team building activities with other Cubs
Personal Challenge Award
All Cubs at ScotJam were challenged by there leaders and instructors to overcome their fears, and to push themselves and set themselves goals for ever activity. Therefore, it is possible that Cubs have achieved elements on this badge.
