How Carousel Learning Aids Learning
The Science department at Newbattle use Carousel Learning for home practice. This site utilises flashcards for revision. Study packs to help revise the flashcards are also available. Pupils are asked to mark their own work, this helps them understand the mark scheme, before the teacher will then check it.
Using the Site:
Students can use study packs to revise flashcards or set short quizzes for themselves to improve their recall of key ideas.
How Quizlet Aids Learning
On quizlet there are many packs of flashcards for each subject and key area. Pupils can use these as flashcards or in different revision modes from tests to games.
Using the Site:
Students can use a variety of modes to test their knowledge. They should use these regularly to practise definitions.
How JABchem Aids Learning
Jabchem has links to many past papers, mark schemes as well as mark schemes with explanations. For some subjects and levels, there are documents with questions split up by key area.
Using the Site:
Pupils should use this to access past papers which they should then complete and mark using the attached mark schemes. Ideally students will complete these under timed conditions to make sure they can answer questions in time. Typically the SQA allows around 1.5 minutes per mark.
How Quizizz Aids Learning
Online quizzes, mostly multiple choice. See your teacher for links to specific areas.
Using the Site:
Complete the quizzes and check over your answers to see how well you have done. Use this as feedback to plan future areas for revision.

How BBC Bitesize Aids Revision:
BBC Bitesize has a section for each science. Within this it is split into key areas, with each key area having a few pages of information (with diagrams) then a multiple choice quiz.
