Midland ISD is excited about being awarded the Transformation Zone Planning Grant which will allow us to create a Transformation Zone to provide selected campuses with more autonomy and opportunities for innovation. More information may be found on the TEA website.
Due to Houston Elementary being rated Improvement Required for two consecutive years, the campus is required to develop a Turnaround Plan of comprehensive change that will produce significant and sustainable gains in achievement within two years. The campus turnaround plan describes the actions that the campus will take over a two year period to produce improvements in student outcomes.
Houston Elementary's draft Turnaround Plan is below. We encourage parents, staff and community members to review the plan and submit questions about the plan to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Midland ISD School Board unanimously approved the Houston Turnaround Plan at the January 16, 2018 board meeting. Actions toward transforming Sam Houston Elementary will begin immediately. Stay tuned to this page for the most current information. The plan will be submitted for approval to the TEA Commissioner of Education and information from TEA should be received in April. If the TEA requests amendments to the plan, these will be communicated to the community and discussed in a public board meeting.
