If weather is conducive, we may walk downtown for a walking field trip on Monday Nov 4, so please wear good shoes and dress warmly. Either meet at the Davis Library entrance, or park and meet us at the Frog Hollow Parking area.
If you're interested in analyzing social media data on disasters using data science in R, consider the GEOG 1230 winter term course. It counts as one of the geography methods requirements or simply as a geography elective. We'll learn how to conduct analyses like this and this.

For Monday Oct 28, you may skip the readings and instead attend a talk by Vermont's climatologist Dr. Lesley-Ann Dupigny-Giroux "Towards building a more resilient Vermont: People, land and infrastructure challenges in our changing climate" at 5:00 pm in BiHall 216 on Tuesday, October 29. If you cannot attend, you may submit a one-page summary of the readings, or a one-page summary of this recorded lecture, highlighting the concepts and issues most relevant to our course.
