FOR AP APPROVALS
Science will be using a placement test to aid with AP approvals and as a result it will strengthen the quality of decisions by the teacher, advisor and student during the course placement process.
AND THE PROCESS
No students will be prevented from requesting an AP course with this process nor should the process significantly shift overall course enrollment.
Your advisor will register you in Veracross for the course you want to take for Science
Students should take both placement tests who wish to enroll in
AP Chem
AP Bio/APES
Any students who do not pass the placement test after the second opportunity will still have the option to petition the science department and academic committee for approval per the typical petition procedure.
AFTER PLACEMENT TEST
If you do not want to take an AP after the placement test, your advisor must change your registration information from AP to an alternate course in the following places
Google Registration Sheet
Veracross
When in doubt, please contact the Registrar (brueckert@micds.org)
Never include a course more than once on your registration sheet
Never register for a course you are not approved to take
If you are not able to gain approval for a class that requires it (e.g. accelerated or AP courses), you must petition if you desire to take the class (see common registration questions above).
Mark the "petition" box on your Google Sheet to indicate you are planning to petition for a different course.
It's easy this year...
