Jada Kramer '26 is double majoring in Public Health & Psychology at Miami University, where she is interested in going into behavioral health policy and advocacy. This research, as part of her honors thesis in Psychology and participant as a College of Arts & Science Dean's Scholar, is about the experiences and suggested improvements with seeking mental health services of citizens in the Czech Republic, which is where she studied abroad last semester to collect her data through a mixed methods online survey.
An overwhelming majority of psychology research comes from the United States, so it is important to expand samples to other countries to account for cultural differences in the generalizability of results. As a research assistant in the CARE Lab, Jada's project was an opportunity to combine the lab’s mission of global mental health with her study abroad experience and career goal of mental health policy.
Led by Dr. Vaishali Raval, the Culture, Affect, RElationships (CARE) Lab is part of Miami University's Department of Psychology and is committed to understanding mental health and well-being among globally and locally underrepresented groups in psychological science.
