This project was an individual assignment for my Emerging Technology in Business and Design (ETBD) course. Our professor challenged us to reimagine a name for the ETBD Department that better reflects its core purpose and activities. I proposed Design Innovation Lab, emphasizing how design serves as the foundation for everything we learn and create in the program. To explore the full presentation, click the images.
Throughout my life, I never really had problems with my self-image until I turned 16. Over 4 years, my hair turned from stick straight to curlier than I ever thought I could experience. Though I have no idea why this change took place, I suddenly found myself staring in the mirror, frustrated with the frizzy bird's nest on my head. I grew frustrated with my seemingly unhealthy, unhappy, dull and dry hair. I didn't know how to care for it and the journey to re-learn how to give my hair the nourishment it needed was a very long and stressful process. I still haven't fully figured it out! But I'm glad I started because it led me to make this app.
I learned I wasn't the only one struggling and to make this process smoother for other people, I designed "Refresh."
Refresh is an interactive hair care app prototype to help people build a routine they love while embracing self-care and community! With a daily hair journal, hair care product analysis, and forums, users can track their progress, swap tips, and discover what works best for their hair. Plus, a playful gamification system lets them personalize the face of my app, adorable hairball named Hairry, as they stay consistent! After spending years figuring out my own routine, I wanted to create a space that makes the journey easier, more enjoyable, and full of self-love. This Figma prototype is my vision for a hair care experience that’s engaging, supportive, and totally personalized!

The BLINK Cincinnati Process Book is a collaborative project between Stella Kinoshita and me, documenting the elements that came together to create our team's final projection mapping installation for the light festival.
This book highlights the work of the entire team. Stella and I worked together to create the layout of each page to capture the scale and impact of BLINK Cincinnati.
Beyond being a design piece in itself, the book also showcases the software our team used to develop each scene and illustrates the iterative design process that transformed our concepts from paper to product.
Whenever I'm developing a new logo design, first and foremost I always begin with research. What is the logo going to stand for? What are the values that it is supposed to represent? What feeling does the company want to give to their audience?
These are the questions that begin my research and lead me into my iteration process. After that, it is simply putting pencil to paper, mouse to screen, designing as many different logo concepts as I can before I create a few that have that special spark. I iterate, I iterate, and I iterate, getting input until I finally reach a working professional product.
The photo included shows how my process builds outwards and narrows down into one design that can support a brand package.
