Cluster Analysis of Students' Understandings of Multiple External Representations

This research investigated students’ understandings of multiple external representations for core chemistry concepts, including the role of bonding in understanding reactions. Cluster analysis of both historical data and simultaneous replication studies were conducted to identify patterns in students’ thinking both within a single topic and for constructs that transcend multiple chemistry concepts. Manuscripts are in preparation.
