Attached is the FINAL leader board for the 2016-2017 Google Translate Community Competition!!! And you guys BLEW everyone AWAY!!!!

First of all, your amazing efforts yielded a total of 3 million translations! That's a humongous amount and it's amazing. Bypassing by FAR even our wildest expectations!

This is more than has been achieved by any project in the entire world for Google Translate!

The team at Google have told us that not only is it an amazing number, but the quality of the translations were superior, as well! They did not believe that schoolchildren could achieve such results! WELL DONE to EVERYONE!!!

קודם כל, המאמץ המדהים שלכם הצטבר יחד לכדי 3 מיליון תרגומים! זה המון וזה מדהים.

זה יותר מכל פרויקט שאי פעם נעשה בעולם עבור Google Translate.

הצוות ב-Google מוסר שלא רק המספר מדהים, אלא גם איכות התרגומים. הם לא האמינו שמדובר בתלמידי בית ספר. כל הכבוד לכם!

אז, במקום הראשון לערבית זוכה הנבחרת המדהימה: Word Busters! מי היה מאמין שאפשר לתרגם כל כך הרבה? בדקנו כמה פעמים שהמספר אמיתי מרוב שקשה להאמין. אתם זוכים גם בסיור במשרדים של Google (כי סיימתם ראשונים) וגם ב-Cardboards (כי עמדתם באתגר ה-400,000).

ובמקום הראשון לעברית, זוכים: Falafel Team הנהדרים! עשיתם עבודה מדהימה. גם אתם תגיעו לסיור במשרדים של Google!

מעבר לכך, היו לנו שני אתגרים לזכייה ב-Cardboards לכל הכיתה: אתגר ה-400,000 תרגומים ואתגר השבועיים האחרונים:

באתגר ה-400,000 זוכה הנבחרת: Too close to the sun! איזה הישג מרשים! כל הכבוד לכם!

באתגר השבועיים האחרונים זוכה בערבית הנבחרת: Type Till You Ripe :) המצוינים, ובעברית הנבחרת: Hillary's Angels הנפלאים!

ובזאת אנחנו לא מסיימים.. לכל אחת מ-15 הנבחרות הראשונה שלא קיבלה פרס, אנחנו נשלח משהו מאיתנו לכל ילדי הכיתה! כי אי אפשר להתעלם מהעבודה מעוררת ההשראה שלכם:

אנחנו מודים לכל המשתתפים בתחרות ומתפעלים מההישגים שלכם.

זה לא מובן מאליו לחרוג מתכנית הלימודים שלכם, ללמד את התלמידים שלכם יותר מרק אנגלית - גם טכנולוגיה וגם את הכוח של עבודה קבוצתית ואנחנו מאוד שמחים שבחרתם לעשות את זה.

אנחנו מקווים שהייתה לכם חוויה מוצלחת ושוב מודים לכם על מה שעשיתם בשביל Google Translate והמשתמשים שלה באנגלית, בערבית ובעברית. (נודה לכם אם תוכלו להגדיש כמה דקות למלא שאלון קצר כדי לקבל משוב ותובנות לעתיד.)

And of course there are prizes!

So, the first place team for the category of Arabic, are the remarkable Word Busters! Who would have thought you could translate so much? The final score was SO outstanding, that we checked it several times, and, indeed, the score is accurate!. The students of your team have won BOTH a fun morning in Tel Aviv on a special VIP tour of the Google offices (because you finished first place) AND each of your participating students will receive Cardboards (because you surpassed 400,000 contributions). WORD BUSTERS ROCK!!!!!

Coming in first place in Hebrew, are the wonderful Falafel Team! You have done a marvelous job. You, too, will be given a VIP tour of the offices of Google!

In addition to that, we had offered two challenges for winning Cardboards for the entire class: first of all, to all those achieving 400,000 translations. Later on, we added the challenge for the most significant improvement for the final two weeks of the competition.

Too Close to the Sun surpassed the 400,000 and will be sent a set of Cardboards for each of their students! What an impressive achievement!

For the challenge of the final two-week sprint, the winners are for the Arabic language: Type Till You Ripe, and, scooping up the prize for the Hebrew language team are Hillary's Angels! You guys were sensational!!

But WAIT!!! We’re still not done! We were SO impressed by the efforts your teams made, that we wanted to ensure that each of the 15 teams that are at the top of the charts, who did not win one of the bigger prizes, get something for each of their students to show our appreciation for their dedicated work. Dream Team, Freaky Mind Masters, COOL MINDS, 9 (1) Mofet Class, The Eagles, 9 (7), Bounty Hunters, The Great Debaters, The Eagles, and Heroes will all be receiving a special token of appreciation from us at Google for each of their participants!

We want to again thank ALL the participants in this competition and say how profoundly we appreciate and admire your achievements. And a special word to the dedicated teachers with whom we have had the privilege to work on this endeavor: we do not for a minute take for granted the fact that you were willing to jump into the deep end with us in this competition, adding to your regular curricular requirements, in order to teach your students above and beyond just English! By participating with them, you have immersed your students into technology, augmented your pedagogy and authentically taught your class a meaningful lesson about the power of teamwork and we are overjoyed that you chose to do all of this.

We hope you come out of this (whether you won any of the material prizes, or not) feeling that you and your students have had a worthwhile experience! Again, we thank you for what you all have done for the capabilities of the Google Translate tool and its users in English, Arabic and Hebrew! (We would appreciate it if you could take a few minuets to fill out this a short feedback form this evening in order to get your input and learn for future competitions!)
