WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE the New Staff Development Pathway Program!
The Morris Hills Regional District Staff Development Steering Committee is pleased to announce a new, innovative approach to professional development in our district. The Pathways Model is designed to meet the instructional needs of the students, pedagogical needs of the teachers, and transformative needs of the district as we continue to advance in today’s society.
What is the Pathways Model?
Participants will have the opportunity to gain expertise in the most current and relevant areas in education while working toward earning a micro-credential digital badge in one or more of four different pathways:
- Building a Classroom in the Digital Age
- Unlocking Comprehension Across the Curriculum
- Maximizing Student Potential
- Promoting Deeper Engagement
What is a micro-credential?
Each pathway consists of four workshops or “micro-courses”. A micro-credential is a certification within a specific area of expertise awarded to participants who successfully fulfill all the requirements of a pathway series. A micro-credential and digital badge will be awarded to staff members by the SDSC Liaison following the completion of the capstone course.
What are the Requirements?
Participants will complete an individual capstone project to demonstrate the influence of the series of workshops on the his or her pedagogy. The capstone project will be presented to the cohort in a multi-faceted presentation during the final culminating meeting.
How many professional development hours will I earn?
Participants will earn 2 hours per workshop. A complete pathway series is worth 10 hours. The capstone project is worth additional hours to be logged by the participant and submitted to the liaison at the final meeting. Please check back to find out "What Counts" toward the additional hours.
