A service learning initiative devised by Morris Hills High School students with the objective of eradicating hunger within the Morris County, New Jersey region. We aim to bridge the gap between available resources and those requiring them.Â
With a notable increase in families needing food assistance, the urgency for support of local food pantries has escalated. Often run on charitable donations from community members and volunteers, these food pantries necessitate supplementary funding to uphold their operations effectively. Additionally, there exists a prevalent lack of awareness regarding the accessible resources for individuals in need. We aim to raise awareness regarding local resources to ensure individuals do not encounter difficulties in finding help.
Service Learning is a course offered at Morris Hills High School that focuses on addressing genuine community needs. For our service learning project, we have developed a website aimed at consolidating a comprehensive list of food access resources in Morris County. Our objective is to facilitate easier access to resources that cater to the diverse needs of the community. To ensure that our initiatives result in tangible action rather than mere activities, we have created this website to serve as a platform for educating others and fostering lasting impacts.
