The annual event celebrating our right to read, Banned Books Week is September 26-October 2. Intellectual freedom and the right to read is a core value of the library profession. We are charged with providing free, equitable, and confidential information to all. Banned Books Week celebrates our right to read by highlighting some of the most challenged and banned books across the country. Each year, the American Library Association provides a list of the top 20 challenged books. We are fortunate to have many of these available in our Media Center. You can check these books out and see some of the reasons they have been challenged in the past. And, check out the #bannedbooksweekchat with author, Jason Reynolds at bannedbooksweek.org. For more information on intellectual freedom and Banned Books Week celebration check out ala.org/advocacy/intfreedom and bannedbooksweek.org. #bannedbooksweek #bannedbooksweek2021 #censorshipdividesus #booksuniteus
