Research indicates that support provided in the first three years of teaching has a large impact on an educator’s future success. The BTNT program has been developed to provide a wide variety of support to teachers in their first three years of teaching as well as those teachers new-to-the-district.

Who participates in the program?
- Teachers who are classified as B1, B2, or B3 by the district.
- Teachers who are in their first year of teaching at an MGSD school, regardless of experience.
What are the meeting requirements of teachers in the program?
- Attend school-based & District based professional development meetings for BTNTs (Monthly)
- Attend 1:1 coaching sessions with their assigned instructional coach
- B1/NT→ 1st Quarter: Weekly, 2nd Quarter: Bi, 3rd/4th Quarter: Monthly (or as directed by administration)
- B2 & B3 → 1st Quarter: Monthly or bimonthly, 2nd/3rd/4th Quarter: Monthly (or as directed by administration)
What happens at the monthly meetings?
- Curriculum and Instruction PD
- Guest Speaker Series
- Lesson Planning Support
- Celebrations & Socials
- Specialized Tech Training (ex. End-of-Course Testing Procedures)
What happens in the 1:1 coaching sessions?
- Instructional coaches will assist teachers with lesson planning, curriculum, technology and other topics as needed. Teachers should bring their lesson plans for feedback.
- During the session, the IC and the Teacher will detail what was discussed and next steps.
- Starting in 2nd quarter, teachers will go on “instructional rounds” with their coach to observe other teachers and reflect on teaching practices.
- Teachers will also video themselves teaching and self reflect:
- B1/NT→ 1 time each quarter
- B2 → 2 times during the year
- B3 → Once during the year
